About Chris Haining

The stuff herein was all written by Chris Haining. That's me.

Most of the things it contains were written a very long time ago, without any sub-editing, very little discipline and a very loose journalistic style.

I grew up drawing cars, went to Coventry University to get a degree in drawing them a bit better, then graduated and had no money. I got a job selling cars at BMW in 2005, then moved to Mercedes three years later after a brief spell of wanderlust in 2007.

After a while I swapped the showroom for the service department, where I shared and resolved the problems (nee 'opportunities') of many, many customers. I later became the warranty administrator.

All of this was just a distraction from what I really wanted to do - to write about cars. In 2010 I wrote the first story on this blog, and kept on going. A few years later I was invited to contribute to www.hooniverse.com, and I'm still on the payroll, contributing a few articles a week.

In 2016 I made the change to full-time auto journalism, joining Dennis Publishing as a content editor. Things have come a long way since 2010 - and I keep this blog live to keep track of where I came from.

UPDATE: As of 2019, I'm the digital reviews editor for What Car?
